I'll Be Back Soon
A Three-Act Narrative Overture
The series begins with tenderness: a woman gazing softly, her face cradled by hands that suggest intimacy and care. The title, "I'll Be Back Soon," whispers reassurance—a promise intended to soothe the uncertainty of absence.
But the promise feels uneasy. It is not for the one left behind but for the one leaving, offering comfort in their departure. The hands, which seem to belong to the subject, hold the viewer’s focus. Their presence suggests connection, stability, and truth. Yet there is something unsaid—a gap, a void that grows as the viewer contemplates the intimacy they see.
This is part of a larger work in progress "The Space Between": the chasm between the words spoken and the reality they mask. The images, like the promise, invite trust while quietly obscuring their true nature. As Roland Barthes reminds us, “To give a text an Author is to impose a limit on that text.” Here, the limit is hidden, deferred, leaving the audience to construct their own understanding of the intimacy presented.
